Follow My Vote To Sponsor United We Stand Festival

Follow My Vote will be sponsoring the United We Stand Festival and Open Presidential Debate at the University of Colorado Boulder on Tuesday October 25th. In addition to the debate, there will be speakers and performances by more than 10 different bands and artists.

The festival is put on by the the Free and Equal Election Foundation. Free and Equal’s mission is to broaden electoral choices through education and direct positive action. They are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to give all ballot-qualified candidates the opportunity to debate important political issues in public forums. Free and Equal continues to help level the political playing field and to inspire more independents and alternative party candidates to run for office. They strive to empower and encourage more people, especially young people, to get involved in the discussion, participate in the political process and hold their government accountable. Free and Equal believes that “more voices, more choices” will help shift the political power back to the people, away from the control of a few corporations and political elites, creating a more balanced system where all are free and equal in their ability to participate.

Keynote Speaker: Kweku Mandela

The grandson of the famous Noble Peace Prize winner Nelson Mandela. Kweku continues the work of his grandfather in Africa by empowering the country’s youth. Kweku Mandela will present the “Mandela” award in honor of Civil Rights Activist Amelia Boynton-Robinson.

Follow My Vote sponsored the The 5th annual Bocce Ball Tournament hosted by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce(MCCC). The tournament was held on June 23, 2016. A total of 50 teams participated with every team guaranteed to play at least 5 games. The top 16 teams then played for a single elimination round.

Team members Will Long and David Brock competed in the tournament, while Olivia Goodwin cheered them on. Learn more about the Follow My Vote team.

The Follow My Vote team did not place in the tournament and will be intensifying work out regimens and practices in preparation for next year.

As a public benefit corporation, Follow My Vote is a big believer in supporting the local community. One way we do this is by sponsoring events like the Bocce Ball Tournament. One-third of all of the proceeds made throughout the event are put toward the Chamber’s Teacher of the Year fund, Career and Technical Education Sponsorship, and the Mary T. Tutle Scholarship to the Pamplin College of Business.

Sponsoring The Blacksburg Fork And Cork

On April 30th, Follow My Vote proudly sponsored the 2016 Blacksburg Fork and Cork. The local food, wine, and art festival is a favorite for both Blacksburg residents and Virginia Tech students.

The festival is put on by The Blacksburg Partnership, a local non-profit organization that helps promote and bring visitors to the area. The Partnership is known for three signature events that take place every year: Blacksburg Fork & Cork, Blacksburg Brew Do and the Virginia Cheese Festival. Follow My Vote is a proud sponsor of each of these events.

This year’s Fork and Cork was super fun. Team members Adam Ernest and Will Long attended and gave out Follow My Vote stickers and parallel election stickers.

Talking to the fellow wine lovers was very encouraging. People were excited to hear about blockchain voting and how Follow My Vote is pushing for honest elections, especially because the company taking on the challenge is in their backyard.

Fork and Cork had over 20 different wineries attend, live music, and even cooking demonstrations!

The weather was quite dreary, so we brought along the corgis to brighten the day!

A sword swallower also attended the event. His skills were quite impressive!

Community Involvement At Follow My Vote: The 5k Rat Race

Follow My Vote is passionate about community involvement. Last week we helped support the Blacksburg Partnership by sponsoring the 5K Rat Race, kicking off the first annual Virginia Cheese Festival. The 5K race was held at the Virginia Tech Cross Country Course. Participants were encouraged to dress up in rat or cheese-themed attire. Adam, our founder and CEO, participated in the race and also won the costume contest! Overall, it was a great day for Follow My Vote to get silly with the community and showcase our support for the community and town of Blacksburg. To create a company that cares about community involvement, one must lead by example. It is not every day that you see a CEO running a race to support their local town.

The race was put on by the Blacksburg Partnership, a local non-profit economic development organization focused on projects that attract visitors and prospects to the Blacksburg area. Their mission is to “foster high quality of life, [and] promote the Blacksburg area, attract retailers, assist in the planning and development of properties in Blacksburg’s commercial and retail districts, facilitate the development process, and participate in commercial development projects. “
