Greetings! It’s been a while since we’ve posted actively. We’ve been quiet, but we’re still around. In truth, we’ve had some struggles through the past years, and for a while it was unclear whether we would be able to continue working and bringing our solutions to the world.

Things are looking quite a bit brighter now, though, and we are once again confident in our ability to deliver what we promised. Over the past years, the difficulties we encountered affected each of us who make up Follow My Vote differently, and tested our resolve, but over time, we have been refined by this fire, and it has clarified our vision and strengthened our resolve to continue. We have examined our situation and ascertained our position, charted a course forward, and embarked upon the journey.

Make no mistake, Follow My Vote is fundamentally the same today as it was when last we spoke. We are a small crew of three guys, brought together by a shared vision of a better world, based upon systems that work for everyone, where the best ideas are gathered, tested, refined, implemented, and improved. A world where communication is easier and more effective, where societies are formed by individuals empowered to speak out about the problems they see, propose solutions to those problems, experiment on how to implement those solutions, and collaborate on which implementations are most safe, effective, scalable, economical, and desirable.

Having surpassed the difficulties that beset us, we are as convinced as ever before that this vision can be realized, but we also have greater clarity on just how big that vision is, and how much work it will take to bring it to fruition. We have identified the necessary groundwork and have secured operational funding to begin laying the foundations. We have formulated a plan and are currently working on its execution.

In order to succeed in making our vision a reality, we have realized that we must be more open and transparent about that vision, the plans to realize it, and the path and progress to getting there. Today, we are sharing our vision and plans as they exist now, and we are committing to maintain an open dialogue as to our position and progress at every step along the way. As a first step along this path, in addition to this article, we are also giving to the world our pending patent for one of humanity’s most important solutions for scalable communication: a secure, anonymous, end-to-end verifiable online voting system.

The importance of a new solution for voting is clearer now than ever before. Confidence in election integrity would seem to be at an all time low, and the need is great for more scalable and accessible solutions, without compromising on integrity, security, and privacy. Some solutions are already being proposed and brought to the market, but these solutions are dangerously ill-prepared to meet the needs of modern elections, and we at Follow My Vote are gravely concerned that the market may be swayed by these ineffective half-measures. This makes ever more clear the pressing need for transparency and education on the concerns involved in designing an online voting system to meet the rigorous security and voter privacy requirements necessary to re-establish confidence in election integrity.

At the same time, we are fully aware that voting is only one of humanity’s communication needs. New solutions are necessary to support all kinds of communication with guarantees of integrity, authenticity, and privacy. While the internet has become the de facto solution for our communication problems, the technologies which exist today are inadequate to provide for the next generation of services and applications supporting communication at scale. By creating new internet technologies which adequately support the rigorous requirements of online elections, we simultaneously establish a foundation and platform, not only for voting solutions, but myriad other applications as well.

Since 2014, Follow My Vote has had a plan for an end-to-end verifiable, anonymous online voting system secure enough to support national elections. The difficulty is that the current solutions to problems fundamental to all online applications were simply not intended to withstand the kinds of attacks we expect and observe to be leveled against national elections. We need solutions to these problems the same as everyone else, but whereas the existing approaches may be adequate for other applications, if we relied upon these technologies, our voting system’s security would be decimated and it would be feasible that advanced or well-positioned attackers could successfully interfere with the results.

In the intermediate years, we have struggled to keep the company afloat while searching for solutions that could solve the problems well enough that we could build our system and deploy it with confidence that its foundations were strong enough to deliver on its promise without crumbling under the load of real-world usage and attacks. At the same time, we’ve been confronted by numerous dilemmas where we could compromise the principles informing the design of our solutions to make them more practical or popular, but at the cost of making the resultant system less trustworthy or easier to defeat.

Through these trials, we have come to understand that Follow My Vote’s purpose in the market, the company’s raison d’être, is to make, with absolute and honest purity of intent and principles, an online voting system with absolutely zero compromise on security and voter privacy. We know that honesty and principles are rigidly inflexible, and to hold ourselves to these standards, we will make decisions which will be unpopular and politically incorrect. Nevertheless, we will hold to principle and create a solution with zero compromise in the integrity of its design or its results, wherever that takes us. Our software will be open source and free to modify, and others will be welcome to make dilute versions which they find more palatable, but we will keep our designs on the straight and narrow path of the greatest possible integrity and resilience.

The first step on this path, then, is to share with the public our plans to make such a system logistically and technically feasible. As we have stated above, existing solutions for creating online applications are not adequate to support our online voting system. A secure online voting system must not only give voters incontrovertible proof that their decision was accurately recorded and included in the tally, but it must also be resilient enough that it would be infeasible to prevent voters from successfully casting their votes, and it must ensure that the voter’s privacy is absolute and unbreakable by any entity within the system, while simultaneously guaranteeing that only legitimate voters can successfully cast a vote and that each voter gets exactly one vote. To ensure that all of these constraints are met, a protocol, or the rules and procedures governing how the system works and how information is handled, is established and an application is used by voters to easily and intuitively interact with the system according to protocol. This application is written in software code and that code must be downloaded to the voter’s device or computer to enable them to interact with the system. Once the voter has the application, they use it and it locates and communicates with other computers in the system on their behalf. All of these processes must succeed, and all of the information must be handled with integrity, even under attack, even when the attackers are well funded, technically advanced, and enjoy privileged positions of power from which to corrupt the system.

There are two universal problems to be solved in making any application based on communication technology such as the internet. First is getting the application to the human so they can use it, and second is supporting the application’s communications as it operates on the human’s behalf. Both must be conducted without a reasonable possibility of corruption. The first problem, getting the application to the human, is typically solved today by downloading the application over the web or from an app store. The second problem, supporting the application while it locates and communicates with other computers online, is typically solved today using the Domain Name System (DNS) and Certificate Authorities (CAs). Unfortunately, all of these solutions — web downloads, app stores, DNS, and CAs — are susceptible to easy attack if the attacker is adequately advanced or enjoys a convenient position of power. These solutions were designed only to be secure against common attackers without powerful positions, but a voting system needs to be secure even against attackers who happen to control, or can seize control of, instrumental computers within the system. As a result, these technologies constitute a weak foundation for an online voting system, and any system based upon them, no matter how much security is added later on, is susceptible to attack.

Furthermore, the aforementioned technologies are not highly resilient to outages and failures. If key systems fail, the application may not load, may not function, or may not successfully locate other computers within the system. For highly sensitive applications, this is not adequate. In the immortal words of Apollo 13, “Failure is not an option.” In the face of outages and failures, the technology must automatically recover or choose a new path that does not fail. If the outages are insurmountable, then the human must be given clear and practical guidance on how to proceed successfully. While this kind of redundancy has been achieved with existing internet solutions, it requires enormously expensive and complex systems which require substantial expertise and resources to construct and maintain, and even then, the solutions are centrally managed, meaning that they are resilient to outages, but not to well-positioned attacks. To support an online voting system, simpler strategies for resilience and redundancy must be found, which do not require unusual skill or resources and central management.

To meet these needs, Follow My Vote has examined the technologies available and selected more fundamental technologies which have been around for longer and provide more basic services with few conveniences relied on by modern application developers. These older and less convenient, but more durable technologies remain in widespread use and are still fundamental to our modern systems today, and thus they constitute a strong foundation upon which to build. From this position of strength, new solutions can be implemented which leverage the experience gained from the modern web to provide all of the power and convenience to which modern developers have become accustomed and more, but without relying on less robust or resilient approaches to provide them.

Out of these solutions can be fashioned a new platform for communication applications. This is not just a solution for voting; indeed, if it were then it would be questionable whether the design could be securely maintained and withstand the tests of time. By creating a solution to benefit an entire new generation of online applications, we ensure that, as with the web today, our platform is continuously examined and improved as it supports a vast and growing array of vested interests, including many that are newly made possible by the greater architectural stability of the proposed platform.

Only once this platform is fully established will we continue with building our anonymous, end-to-end verifiable online voting solution. We will construct simpler applications to prove out the platform and demonstrate its proper use, but until the platform is ready, we cannot build a ruggedly secure solution for elections, and we dare not risk redirecting resources away from the foundation prematurely. This will ensure the platform is rugged and stable before we begin building a mission critical solution on top of it, but by building smaller solutions on top of it in the meantime, we use our own designs and ensure that the platform is practical and convenient enough for everyday usage as well.

Although Follow My Vote has had our struggles in the past, we’ve learned many lessons and we’ve gained experience so that now, we have confidence that we can build the system we set out to build years ago. These difficult lessons have shown us just how far we have yet to go, but also how far we have come, and they have given us the resourcefulness we will need to succeed in walking the path we have chosen for ourselves. We know that the work cut out for us is enormous, but we also see that the need for it is as great now as it ever has been, and we are galvanized by the threat that the market may lose hope that a truly secure and integral online voting system is possible and settle for a dangerous half-measure.

Having now fully ascertained our position and regained our footing, we know the magnitude and scope of the work we have yet to do, and it is surely daunting; nevertheless, we believe that the work can be done, and we know that it will be worth it when it is finished.

As we press onward, we know the value of transparency and openness and we commit to be more communicative as to the development of our solutions going forward. We hope that this visibility gives the market hope that true solutions are possible, not only for voting, but for a host of applications targeting critical social and societal issues, and we hope that others will support our efforts to create a solution not only for our own applications, but for everyone’s. We thank you for your attention in reading this article and following our progress as we follow through with all that is within us on the work we have described.

Over the past few years we’ve been contacted by media outlets, university researchers, county registrars, political parties, and voters alike wanting to know, “What happened with Follow My Vote?”

In short, we’re still here and we’re not going anywhere.

To elaborate a bit more, we wanted the public to know that, in November 2016, due to lack of funding, Follow My Vote hit the end of our runway, at which point my fellow Follow My Vote Co-founders, Nathan Hourt and Will Long, and I were forced to find day jobs in order to make ends meet.

Since then, we’ve spent our nights and weekends trying to make progress where we can.

Fast forward four years…

We know it’s been awhile since you’ve heard anything from Follow My Vote. But, we’ve been paying attention to what’s going on in the world and we wanted to take this opportunity to reassure the public that we firmly believe that there is still hope for a brighter future, a future where each and every one of our citizens has a voice and our votes truly matter.

We want the world to know that, at Follow My Vote, our mission is to promote truth and freedom by empowering individuals to communicate effectively and implement non-coercive solutions to societal problems AND we see ourselves as citizens of the planet, first and foremost.

It’s also important to note that, at Follow My Vote, we serve the people.

~So, why voting?

Being that we are located in the United States, we’ve decided to start out by focusing on building the solution we think the citizens of the United States need now more than ever, a secure and verifiably honest online voting system, one that provides greater accessibility to the polls on Election Day.

Voting is one of the key pillars to any society with a democratic government.

Therefore, citizens within democratic societies that utilize voting systems and processes that hinder accessibility and ultimately lack verifiability should be concerned. The United States is no exception. It goes without saying that, at Follow My Vote, we see the lack of accessibility / transparency with respect to the voting processes and systems that are currently in place in the United States a cause for grave concern.

In regards to verifiability in particular, with new concepts like those introduced recently by Fiscal Digital in Guatemala, we are seeing new models emerge for applying transparency to the legacy voting processes and systems in place today and applaud those willing to implement these types of solutions, ones that ensure electoral integrity and attempt to restore faith in the voting process.

Now let’s shift the focus of this article toward accessibility for a moment.

~Will Voting Be Handled Differently In The Post Covid-19 Era?

These are troubling times. While the world is still reeling from the coronavirus or Covid-19 outbreak, there is unrest all around us. Things will likely never be the same again, especially when it comes to voting.

Now more than ever, people are standing up and taking action for what they believe in. Citizens are being encouraged to vote as a way to express their opinions on Election Day. But, what happens when “We the People’s” vote is disenfranchised?

If you have been paying attention this primary season, you’re well aware of the debacles taking place at centralized polling locations. Several primary elections have been plagued by issues with the Covid-19 outbreak, such as the massive closing of many centralized polling locations causing ridiculously long-lines at the polling locations that are remaining open, which is effectively disenfranchising voters.

Just the thought of catching Covid-19 at the polls is terrifying, causing people not to show up and vote and rightfully so. United States citizens, or any citizen of any country that hosts elections for that matter, should not have to literally risk their lives in order to vote. Thankfully, some legislative change is happening to address this crisis, as things are only going to get worse as we move closer to the United States 2020 Presidential Election AND there’s no telling if the situation will improve thereafter.

However, at the end of the day, Governors, Secretaries of State, Legislators, Election Officials, academics, cyber security experts and most importantly, the voters will ultimately weigh in and decide if / when the United States is ready for secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting.

Despite not having every United States citizen onboard the mobile voting train, now more than ever, we firmly believe that the need for a secure and verifiably honest mobile voting system, one that provides greater accessibility to the polls on Election Day, couldn’t be more apparent. So, we’re staying the course.

~Is there really a need to bring voting securely online in the United States?

The shocking reality is that many United States citizens currently cast their ballots via postal mail, email, or fax. Why you ask?

A large subset of these voters are absentee voters, those voters that can’t physically make it to their designated polling locations on Election Day. Many of these voters are also Military Overseas Voters, those fighting for the United States in foreign conflicts around the world. And, as of late, vote-by-mail is simply not an option for these citizens, in particular, as international mailing operations have come to a screeching halt due to Covid-19 issues. This means that United States Military Overseas Voters are currently being forced to use incredibly insecure electronic methods of casting their ballots, electronic voting methods which have been approved for use in many states for years now.

To make matters worse, if you really open your eyes to what’s going on, one can see that the entire United States election infrastructure is falling apart.

We’re living in modern times. Modern times call for modern solutions. Therefore, at FMV, we firmly believe that if there is in fact a way to bring voting securely online, to address issues like these and others, we should.

To be clear, we’re not advocating taking away the right for United States citizens to utilize these currently approved voting methods, which are riddled with known security vulnerabilities through and through, all we are saying is that the citizens of the United States deserve better and we’re on it!

~What do you say to those that criticize mobile voting solutions?

We understand that there has been decades of opposition by certain university researchers and security professionals with respect to bringing voting securely online. Although many critics have made some very valid points about security concerns with respect to mobile voting solutions, the people need to start reading beyond the headlines they come across in the media and the conversation needs to shift from “Why Secure Online Voting Will Never Be Possible!” to “How Could We Make Online Voting Secure?”

This singular issue is much bigger than Follow My Vote. At this point, solving this technical challenge, meaning figuring out exactly how to build a secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting platform, has become a humanitarian cause worth pursuing. Thus, we are encouraging everyone around the world to get involved in this project.

When it comes to the United States, we are fully aware that some citizens are perfectly comfortable with waiting in line to cast their vote at a centralized polling locations on Election Day or mailing in their paper ballot in ahead of time as a means to cast their vote in an election. However, we are also very aware that there is a certain population of United States citizens that would love the opportunity to vote conveniently / instantly / securely / verifiably from their own device on Election Day AND that population is growing.

We’re building our solutions for the latter group.

Just to be crystal clear here, we’re not trying to change the way anyone currently votes in the United States today. We’d simply like to provide United States citizens an alternative option for voting on Election Day and encourage those that care about electoral integrity to vote with integrity by using more secure and verifiable voting methods.

~When did this all start?

Although I founded Follow My Vote on the 4th of July in 2012, our technological approach to administering an election using blockchain technology (or distributed ledger technology) dates back to 2014.

This ingenious approach was invented during our time spent at the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Blacksburg, VA. While exploring potential collaboration opportunities with Dan Larimer and the core developers at BitShares, Dan was the first person to introduce blockchain technology (or distributed ledger technology) to me.

Once I learned of this new technology and that it could be leveraged to develop a secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting system, one that could provide greater accessibility to the polls on Election Day, we decided to make that our core focus at Follow My Vote and haven’t looked back.

From there, myself, Follow My Vote’s CTO (Nathan Hourt), and Dan Larimer began innovating. When we designed our patent-pending technological approach, we threw out all preconceived notions of voting systems design that had come before us, in order to have a fresh set of eyes on the problem.

The greatest challenge we faced was to design a secure voting system that incorporated an identity verification component and was end-to-end verifiable, yet anonymous, all while avoiding the creation of any single points of failure in the process.

The end result was our patent, which was published on Google Patents on 4-20-17. It’s also important to point out that, although I’m listed as one of the Co-inventors in our patent, along with Nathan Hourt and Daniel Larimer (CTO of Block.one), Follow My Vote owns 100% of the intellectual property associated with our patent.

~How does your invention work?

Upon review of Fig. 2 in our patent, you will see our designs for an anonymous voting key registration protocol. You’re eyes probably just glazed over as you read that. But, let’s do some unpacking there.

A protocol is just a process. And, when embedded in our voting software, this protocol allows a voter to have their identity verified, and be issued the proper ballot in an anonymous way, so that when the voter casts their ballot, they can quite literally follow their vote into the ballot box and confirm with their own eyes that their ballot was cast as intended and counted as cast. Furthermore, since all votes remain anonymous within the ballot box, all votes cast within our system during an election can be independently verified by anyone, which is showcased in our user-experience demo below:

When you think about it, this invention is truly revolutionary, as, to our knowledge, a protocol/voting system like this doesn’t exist anywhere in the world, even today.

It’s also important to point out that, when inventing our secure voting system, we decided that it was important to mirror the voting experience that currently takes place at centralized polling locations on Election Day, at least in the United States. But, in order to make the process end-to-end verifiable, we had absolutely no choice but to bring the system online.

Furthermore, when putting our thoughts on paper, our goal was to design the ideal voting system, one that couldn’t be compromised by any single actor involved in the election administration and/or voting processes, to include members of our own organization. We had to assume that if any single actor within the system can be a bad actor, they will. And, if history has shown us anything, it’s that people are fallible and can be compromised.

~What Follow My Vote solutions exist today?

We’ve designed a powerful protocol, but the elections grade voting platform itself has not been built. However, we have completed the beta version of our stake weighted voting software, which was integrated with the BitShares public blockchain back in 2016. This software demonstrated our ability to securely store voting data on a public blockchain. But, this software still lacks an identity verification component and our patent-pending anonymous voting key registration protocol, which are both needed in an end-to-end verifiable elections grade voting platform.

When it comes to developing elections grade software, security is the most pressing issue. Therefore, we felt it was imperative to establish our own security standards with respect to mobile voting system design. After analyzing the landscape for years now, we’ve determined that in order to build truly secure voting software, we’d first need to build a decentralized application platform that meets our security standards AND from there develop a decentralized application (dApp) for administering an election / a mobile voting dApp, which will sit on top of this dApp platform.

Now, building such a system will not be such an easy feat, as the dApp platform/mobile voting dApp is a multi-million dollar project that will likely span 2 to 3 years development time, at least by our current estimates. But we’re up for the challenge. Some people call us crazy. They think what we are striving to accomplish is simply not possible. Many of those same people called Elon Musk crazy when he committed to attempting the impossible by putting a man on Mars with his space exploration company called SpaceX. But, look at SpaceX now. Sure as Elon Musk, we are confident we can get the job done in time and with the proper funding.

~Will you need to raise capital to get the job done?

Follow My Vote is still very much a start up. We have yet to raise capital beyond a $50K friends and family round back in 2016. At this point in time, due to the sanctity of our current project, we are choosing to rely solely on grant funding to keep the business afloat.

To date, the majority of our time, effort, and operating capital has been spent on securing our intellectual property, developing our user experience demo software for our end-to-end verifiable mobile voting system, building our minimum viable product (MVP) for our stake weighted voting system, and educating the public of the vulnerabilities and security concerns that exist with respect to the voting processes and systems that are currently in place in the United States via our website and social media.

Should we receive grant funding in the days ahead, the funds will be appropriated to the development of our dApp platform / mobile voting dApp, which will be open source and available for use by the public.

~Are you aware of your competitors in the voting arena?

We are aware of the current players in the mobile voting space, such as Voatz and Democracy Live. We know of the voting solutions they’ve demonstrated AND we know that they are gaining traction. We have our unbiased opinions (both good and bad), which we will share with the public, in time, via our website and social media channels. But, regardless of what we may think about our competitors and the mobile voting solutions they’ve released to date, we applaud the belief in the ideal of people like West Virginia Secretary of State Mac Warner, Colorado Secretary of State Jenna Griswald and Utah County Clerk, Amelia Powers Gardner (among others) whom have demonstrated their willingness to trust in modern technology as a means to increase access to polls.

Despite what you may have read in the news lately about those competing in the mobile voting space, at Follow My Vote, our singular motivation is to solve this technical problem for the citizens of the planet, not to make a profit. Everyone should know that Follow My Vote is a non-partisan public benefit corporation, which on one hand means that we have no hidden agendas of any kind AND on the other hand it means that, if we succeed, a portion of our profits will go towards making a positive impact on society far beyond what our software solutions will provide.

As we work to bring our software solutions to life, it’s important to reiterate that we are taking the open-source approach to software development, which means that we plan to share our source code with the world, once it’s completed. This opens up the opportunity for our software to be reviewed and scrutinized by researchers all over the world before our secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting software is ever used in an election. We may stumble and we may fall along the way, but we plan to pick ourselves up and try again until we get it right.

To be clear, we fully intend to open ourselves up to security reviews and 3rd party assessments from renowned security experts, such as Trail of Bits, at every step of the way and will share these outcomes with the public, as they happen, on our road to our first pilot.

~What challenges do you anticipate on your road to success?

Upon receiving grant funding, and as we work toward developing our decentralized application (dApp) platform and mobile voting dApp, we anticipate having to tackle a whole host of technical challenges, many of which will be heavily focused on security. But, we wanted to take this opportunity to point out that any company taking on the challenge of developing a secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting platform will eventually have to address the following issues:

Verifying Identities – Mobile devices aren’t always secure. As we are seeing now, with digital signature matching, digital identity verification can be problematic. One should also keep in mind that there is a myriad of ways digital identity verification can be accomplished, each of which come with their own security challenges/risks. Regardless of the digital identity verification approach that is taken, companies will need to get this first step in the voting process right if they are going to even get the opportunity to work on other parts.

Getting Ballots to Voters – Digital issuing of ballots will not be easy. Making sure the proper ballot is delivered securely and untampered with to the voter is absolutely critical.

Maintaining Anonymity – Secret ballots are essential for democracy. Being able to remove identifying connections from digital ballots is an essential step. That being said, WV Secretary of State Mac Warner, was recently attributed in saying it might be necessary to eliminate ballot secrecy for internet voting, in order to ensure that votes are safely transmitted. At Follow My Vote, we wholeheartedly disagree, as we’ve already designed a voting process that will allow for anonymous voting within our mobile voting system. Therefore, it is our position that this perceived voter anonymity issue stems from a lack of creativity in voting system design to date, which is why no other company has accomplished this feat yet, at least to our knowledge.

Secure Data Storage – When designing secure and verifiable mobile voting software, the incorporation of blockchain technology (or distributed ledger technology) is a must, at least in our opinion. Blockchain technology alone is not a silver bullet in terms of developing a secure mobile voting platform, as the approach comes with it’s own set of challenges. However, by incorporating distributed ledger technology into your mobile voting system you can be assured that votes stored in the ballot box will be stored securely in an irreversible way, meaning the decentralized database that is the blockchain is incapable of being hacked by a would be attacker. This is also one of our areas of expertise at Follow My Vote, so we don’t anticipate too much of an uphill battle there.

End-to-End Encryption – Facilitating secure communications should be a fundamental requirement within any mobile voting system’s design. If we want to be taken seriously, we’ll need to ensure that we get this done right. Otherwise, our system will not be trusted.

Fully Auditable Systems – At the end of the day, citizens around the world need to be able to have trust in their own election results. Therefore, we believe that the only way a secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting system can truly be trusted is if the software is open-source, meaning that the source code is fully auditable. This is perhaps the hardest part for your typical voting system vendor to deal with. However, it’s the easiest point for Follow My Vote to deal with, as we have pledged to be open-sourced and fully auditable from the very beginning AND we remain committed to that end.

~Where do you see opportunities to pilot your secure mobile voting software, once it’s been completed?

Right now, in the United States, many states are currently trying to scale vote-by-mail programs to keep people safe while they vote, which means that many voters will, for the first time, not vote on Election Day 2020 at a centralized polling place. We know vote-by-mail is not perfect AND many of the risk points mirror the risk points of mobile voting, such as getting ballots to voters, ensuring voter identity while protecting anonymity, protecting the ballots, and producing accurate, auditable results. But that’s where we think the majority of opportunities for a pilot will come from, meaning anywhere we see vote-by-mail taking place today, we are expecting to see secure mobile voting eventually being an option. You could say the same about anywhere where absentee voting is currently taking place, and in particular for Military Overseas Voters.

It goes without saying that, at Follow My Vote, we hope to learn a great deal during this election, and move closer to the goal of safe, secure end-to-end verifiable mobile voting.

~Any parting words?

We know we have a long and winding road ahead of us. But, as we stated in the very beginning of this article, we wanted the world to know that we’re still here and we’re not going anywhere.

We also wanted the world to know that we are open to partnerships and collaboration opportunities where it makes sense. So, whether you are a voting related organization, a potential user of our mobile voting software, or a single individual with dreams of making a difference, if you are interested in working with us in any capacity, please don’t hesitate to Contact Us using the form below.

In closing, even if we have to tackle this problem on our own, Follow My Vote is up for this challenge AND we invite you to take this journey with us! So, be sure to signup for our newsletter and follow us on social media!!

Follow My Vote develops end to end verifiable blockchain voting software for a variety of use cases. All code that Follow My Vote produces is open source and released under the GPLv3 or MIT software licenses. This means all end users can run, study, share and modify the software.

Note* Official Follow My Vote software releases will not have modifications by people who are not Follow My Vote Developers or Code Contributors. Anyone can download, modify, and redistribute the software on their own; however, we cannot guarantee that such unofficial copies will work correctly or be compatible with the official Follow My Vote software.

Currently, Follow My Vote is developing software for both stake weighted elections and one person, one vote elections. This post was created to explain the differences between these two voting platforms.

Two Distinct Voting Systems

Recently we have encountered conversations on social media and other places online where people are confused about which style of voting Follow My Vote supports. Follow My Vote plans to build voting software for any and all use cases that the market demands. However, certain use cases will use different distributions of our software.

One Person, One Vote Voting

Our one person, one vote voting platform is designed primarily for political elections. This method of voting is based on the the principle that all citizens, regardless of where they reside in a state, are entitled to equal legislative representation.

Many countries actually have laws dictating that elections must adhere to this voting method. For example, the United States has applied an Equal Protection Clause to the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution. The clause took effect in 1868 and provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction “equal protection of the laws”. The main purpose of the law is to make sure legislative voting districts have the same population size, thus guaranteeing a person’s vote is equal to another person’s vote within the state.

The one person, one vote system will not have the same features and functionality as our other voting systems. There will not be code within the software to simply turn on or off, for example, a stake weighted voting function. It simply won’t be included within the one person, one vote system. However, we encourage skeptics to audit the code base that any given election is running on to verify this. This is the beauty of open source software: anyone can inspect the system and see exactly how it works, and what it does or does not do.

When our one person, one vote system is officially launched, we will offer clients the option to use a special version of our software dedicated to their election. The code and features not used by that election will be stripped out. This will reduce attack surface and eliminate possible points of confusion in the app. The code for the election will also become easier to audit because there will be less code to review.

Stake Weighted Voting

Our stake weighted voting system is meant for elections where not all voters should have the same amount of influence over the outcome of an election. A perfect use case is shareholder voting in a company. If Alice owns 60% of a company, her vote shouldn’t count equally with the other shareholders. Votes should be weighted according to the level of investment.

There are a few instances of stake weighted voting used by governments. The two most notable are the US Electoral College and the European Council.

Voting Software Release Schedule

Follow My Vote has already released the alpha version of the stake weighted voting platform. This platform is coming out first because it is simpler: in stake weighted voting, there is no additional work necessary to protect voter anonymity as the identity of the voter determines how much weight the vote has.

After we stabilize our platform via the stake weighted voting system, we will use it as a stable and battle-tested foundation for our one person, one vote system. After development of the one person, one vote system is complete, we will prove the technology in the private sector before submitting it for consideration in government elections.

Follow My Vote can now add Forbes to the list of media publications discussing blockchain voting and Follow My Vote’s end-to-end verifiable voting software. Author Jackie Burns Koven has written an unbiased article on Forbes.com that uncovers the progress and realtiy of blockchain voting for use in political elections. Numerous articles are coming out that are very one sided. The content is blatantly for or against blockchain voting. This article is refreshing as it incorporates quotes and opinions from advocates and opponents. This gives the reader a more holistic view and understanding of the state of blockchain voting. Ms. Burns Koven is a Research Assistant of Technology & Public Policy at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs.

Nathan Hourt, Follow My Vote Co-founder and CTO, is quoted several times throughout the article. Hourt eloquently explains risks that are neutralized with an end-to-end verifiable system.

We have included part of the Forbes article for you to read:

With accusations of election rigging and an unprecedented hack of a political party’s emails, voting security has not been this hot of an issue since Bush v. Gore and the Florida recount of 2000. Adding fuel to the fire is the FBI’s latest revelation of foreign hacking into two states’ election databases. Now, Washington officials are increasingly concerned that hackers will seek to infiltrate the decades-out-of-date voting machines with very little technical sophistication and manipulate votes cast for the next U.S. president in November.

Some cybersecurity experts have advocated for the ultimate security measure to protect U.S. elections from foreign tampering—that is, offline paper-based elections.

Yet in Virginia, the state that famously decommissioned its terrifyingly hackable voting machines last year, the startup Follow My Vote believes the solution to safeguard against vote rigging isn’t to revert to no or low-tech, but through the adoption of blockchain technology.

Aside from the obvious issue of scale, Follow My Vote’s cofounder and CTO Nathan Hourt considers paper-based voting systems precariously reliant on the procedural security of officials conducting their jobs correctly and honestly. In offline systems, “there is no way to detect a breach of security… no way to determine if all of the original ballots are still present, if any extra ballots have been added, or if any ballots have been tampered with,” Hourt argues. The risks are amplified in national elections. “The more voters a paper-based system attempts to accommodate, the easier it becomes for a fraudster to corrupt.”

Envisioning a future for e-voting

Follow My Vote aims to combat electoral fraud and protect user credentials by developing a convenient and secure end-to-end voting system that is also open-source and auditable. In their model, voters would skip the lines to cast votes online from home using a webcam and government-issued ID. The virtual electorate could then theoretically watch the election in real-time entrusting the veracity of results to the underlying blockchain auditability features.

How can a voting platform that touts transparency also be secure? Cryptography protects each ballot against tampering from end to end, keeping votes anonymous and immutable though tamper-evident on the blockchain ledger. Each voter can change his or her vote at any time during the election using a private key and unique voter ID.

Dr. Feng Hao co-lead of the Secure & Resilient Systems group at Newcastle University’s School of Computing Science argues that “end to end verifiable voting systems have the merit of allowing a voter to verify if their vote is correctly recorded and correctly included into the tallying process—and if ballots are missing in transit or modified, it can be detected by voters.”

Now that we have released our initial alpha for our stake-weighted blockchain voting software, you can explore the voting system!

Here’s how:

Step 1: Set Up A Graphene Blockchain Testnet

In this video you can follow along with Nathan Hourt, Follow My Vote Co-founder & CTO as he demonstrates how to setup a Graphene / Bitshares testnet and GUI. The Graphene blockchain testnet will serve as a real running blockchain that you can publish contests and casts votes on. The GUI is the graphical user interface which allow you to interact with the software and see what the end user will see.

Step 2: Set Up The Stake-Weighted Voting System On The Graphene Blockchain Testnet.

Once you have set up the blockchain testnet, you will now have the proper foundation of code necessary to run the actual voting system. We created a second video to help walk you through the process of setting up the voting system so that you can test the alpha.

Step 3: Run & Test The Alpha Release

Now that you have followed the previous steps you can explore and test the blockchain voting software. If you have any questions or feedback, please reach out via our contact form or reach out to follow My Vote CTO Nathan Hourt on IRC (Our IRC channel is #followmyvote on Freenode. Nathan’s handle: modprobe)

Now Is The Time To Become A Code Contributor!

In the Follow My Vote Code Contributor Program skilled developers can contribute code to our open source project. Follow My Vote releases open source code under the GPLv3 license. Here are a few reasons why you might consider contributing:

Be A Part Of Something World Changing

Follow My Vote is positioned to disrupt the entire voting industry. . . around the globe. With blockchain based voting we can increase transparency while decreasing costs. You now have a chance to join the project that will likely be the very first end to end verifiable blockchain based voting platform. Get in in the early stages and have your name carved into history as a person responsible for helping build this revolutionary software.

Learn & Gain Blockchain Experience From The Experts.

Follow My Vote CTO, Nathan Hourt is leading the Follow My Vote Code Contributors. Nathan is one of the two architects behind the Graphene Blockchain framework which has been adopted by BitShares, Steem, and Muse.

Earn MERITs

MERITs are digital tokens that Follow My Vote is using to reward Code Contributors and help set the direction of Follow My Vote’s software development. When Follow My Vote is deciding what features to add next, or which direction to take with their products, we will run stake-weighted polls in our software to prioritize development based on market demand. These polls will be weighted in MERIT.

MERITs exist in the BitShares cryptocurrency ecosystem as a User Issued Asset (UIA). Overtime as the project grows and more people earn and hold MERITs, we will see the value of MERITs increase. This will allow early holders to sell their MERIT profitably on the free market.

At this time, one should think of 100 MERITs as representing 1 hour of time. Developers who contribute code to Follow My Vote by resolving issues* that live in our github repository will be rewarded in MERITs.

*Note that not all issues in our github repository are eligible for MERITs. Non-eligible issues have been tagged with a “No MERITs” label. If you are interested in taking on one of the eligible issues, please place a bid by posting a comment on that issue to include how many MERITs you’d like receive for doing the work. From there, we’ll get in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss the opportunity further.

Not a developer? No worries! Our Ambassadors also earn MERITs for their time spent helping the project.

In an interview with Joe Mohen, the former CEO of election.com, Amber Phillips of the Washington Post tried to breakdown why online voting hasn’t been a reality. In an age where you can order food online in the comfort of your bed, the technology to vote already exists. Many critics of such technology say it is easily hack-able, but since the technology has been adopted in the early 2000s, hackablity of the system has been declining. Mohen during the interview stated this

“The experts in the Wired article [that said online voting had many security flaws], and most of the others, might have computer security backgrounds, but they have never done even one election.

[The 2000 effort in Arizona] was a global event; everybody knew about this. We had something like 80 million people come to the website on the day of election. And one firm even hired hackers to break the site. It’s true the first few hours, the servers were very slow. With the help of Cisco, we learned how to defend [against] all those attacks, and response time normalized. And we sustained all the challenges and everything else.

The reality is it is doable, especially with new technology.”

Online voting could allow practically everyone to vote although it may take time to adopt the technology. In the article, Joe Mohen outlines the benefits of having everyone voting and why they haven’t adopted it.

“If you had Internet voting, almost everybody would vote. The way it is now, incumbents get elected at an 80 percent, 90 percent rate; if your congressman’s been there awhile, your congressman’s going to be there awhile. If you allow Internet voting, incumbents would get voted out at a 50/50 rate. So the science of staying in as an incumbent is to manage the voting systems so that the predictable few vote in the primary.”

About Follow My Vote

At Follow My Vote, we are dedicated to making a secure online voting platform that will be able to allow everyone that can vote to vote. With a 19% congressional approval rating, voting out incumbents can be a huge step in order to restoring trust and satisfaction in our government.

The 2016 presidential election is exposing a lot of the shortcomings in our democratic process and how bipartisan politics mixed with antiquated methods of voting have made for a rather corrupt current political climate. This is now being exposed as inaccurate polls are being released after the presidential debates. How much more will it take for people to realize that liquid democracy and online voting need to implemented sooner rather than later?

A consensus has formed around the proposition that polling, especially in multi-candidate presidential races, has become inaccurate and unreliable.

This judgment, rendered by respected experts, exposes the absurdity and corruption of the recent decision by the Commission on Presidential Debates to continue using polls to determine who will be on the stage in the fall of 2016.

Jill Lepore’s excellent article in the Nov. 16 issue of The New Yorker is only the latest in a series of authoritative pieces providing evidence of how “horse-race” polling isn’t working anymore – and explaining why. Dan Balz made similar points in a Washington Post article on Nov. 7. Michael Barone, the dean of election analysts, co-founder of The Almanac of American Politics, and pollster himself for nine years, made the case against polling on Nov. 11 in the Wall Street Journal. He also quoted his American Enterprise Institute colleague, Karlyn Bowman, saying that this may be “the end of polling as we know it.”

The New York Times has run several pieces on the subject, including an op-ed in June by Cliff Zukin, a Rutgers scholar who is past president of the American Association of Public Opinion Research.

Dr. Zukin concluded:

“We are less sure how to conduct good survey research now than we were four years ago, and much less than eight years ago… In short, polls and pollsters are going to be less reliable. We may not even know when we’re off base.”

The evidence abounds. It includes the Israeli and British elections and, on Nov. 3, the Kentucky governor’s race. The polls had the Democrat winning, but the Republican won in what was practically a landslide, 53% to 44%.

The reasons for the declining accuracy of polls are now well known:

sharply falling response rates by voters called for their opinions,

the difficulty and expense involved in reaching people who have abandoned land lines for cell phones (a law bans auto-dialing to mobile phones),

and the near-impossibility of adjusting results to achieve the proper weighting of demographic groups and to determine which of the respondents will actually show up to vote.

As a result, Gallup, the premier U.S. polling organization, announced recently that it would not poll for the primaries this year and might not poll for the general election either.

But the main problem with polling is the uses to which it is being put – especially making it the main criterion for admission to debates. Lepore quotes Scott Keeter, director of survey research for Pew: “I don’t think polling is really up to the task of deciding the field for the headliner debate.”

“Good evening, Citizens of The Planet…

Allow us first to apologize for this interruption. We do, like many of you, appreciate the comfort of everyday routine, the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. We enjoy them as much as any man or woman. But in the spirit of commemoration, whereupon important events of the past, usually associated with someone’s death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, are celebrated with a nice holiday, We thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat.

There are, of course, those who do not want us to speak. Why? Because while the baton may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth.

And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this world, isn’t there?

Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who’s to blame?

Well, certainly, there are those who are more responsible than others. But, truth be told, if you’re looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

We know why you did it. We know you were afraid. Who wouldn’t be?

War, terror, disease. They were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to your government.

They promised you order, they promised you peace, and all they demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent.

Today, we seek to end that silence. Today, we’d like to remind this world of what it has forgotten. More than 400 years ago, a citizen wished to embed the 5th of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives.

So if you’ve seen nothing, if these acts of our governments remain unknown to you, then we would suggest that you allow the 5th of November to pass unmarked.

But if you see what we see, if you feel as we feel, and if you would seek as we seek, then we ask you to stand beside us, one year from today, and together we shall give the world a 5th of November that shall never, ever be forgot.” – V

The above quote is a paraphrased excerpt from the movie V for Vendetta, which refers to a man named Guy Fawkes, whom, in 1605, had an idea and attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament to send a message to his fellow citizens that their government had become all too powerful and corrupt, and that the government ultimately needed to be put in their place.

When reflecting on this moment in history, we are told to remember the idea and not the man. Because man can fail. He can be caught. He can be killed and forgotten. But 410 years later, an idea can still change the world.

At Follow My Vote, we hear from people, old and young, that secure and verifiable online voting is an idea whose time has come. What you may not know is that the people are our customers and we aim to give the people what they want.

To this end, we have come up with a better, more secure, convenient, and honest way to cast your vote. We are leveraging blockchain technology, in combination with elliptic curve cryptography, to build the online voting platform of the future.

The people have spoken. The people want and demand the ability to freely vote online, securely, privately, with integrity and from their own device.

It is time… to catch up with the times and bring voting into the 21st century. But, most importantly, it’s time to begin voting with integrity.

Our integrity sells for so little these days, but it is all we really have. It is the very last inch of us, but within that inch, we are free. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us.

Therefore, Follow My Vote has decided to promote truth and freedom by taking the liberty of sponsoring a presidential election of our own in parallel to the United States Presidential Election of 2016, using a provably honest online voting system.

When you really sit down and think about it, what makes a voting system legitimate is whether or not the people decide to use it.

Voters that freely choose to cast a vote within the Follow My Vote’s parallel election will be choosing to do the right thing. Voters will be choosing to take a stand for what they believe in, to voice their support for using a voting system that has integrity, one that can be trusted because voters can count their vote with their own eyes.

When the “We the People” vote using our software, they can follow their vote into the transparent, blockchain-based ballot box to ensure that their vote was cast and intended and counted as cast. In this way, the people that vote using our voting software will be choosing honesty and transparency over secrecy and opacity. Ultimately, voters that vote in our system will be choosing to be a part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

We want to be clear that we at Follow My Vote do not advocate blowing up any buildings, or any other kind of aggressive action. While we strongly believe that people should not be afraid of their governments; rather, that governments should fear the people, we are also strict adherents to the Non-Aggression Principle and we recognize that violent action will not help us to achieve greater freedom. We seek only to remind our governments that they operate only with the express consent of the governed, and to empower the people to declare their consent clearly, as the way voting is done today does not fulfill this requirement.

We are well aware that upon reading this, there will be many of those that doubt us. There are those that may ask us, do we really think that voting in one parallel election will make this world a better place?

To those that doubt us, we must answer by saying there is no certainty, only opportunity. A parallel election is a symbol, as is the act of voting in it. Symbols are given power by the people. Alone a symbol is meaningless, but with enough people… voting in a parallel election can change the world.

We know there’s no way we can convince you that this is not one of their tricks, but we don’t care…

We are Follow My Vote. We are blockchain agnostic. We are government agnostic. We are worldwide.

One thing we can promise you is that, this is in no way, shape or form an attempt to create chaos, cause rioting in the streets, or insight violence in any way. This should not to be considered an act of terrorism or treason; if anything, this should be considered an act of patriotism.

To be clear, we are not suggesting that anyone attempt to overthrow their own government, nor have we planted any bombs to blow up any buildings anywhere. The only thing we hope to blow is the minds of “We the People” when they get to experience voting for the President of the United States from their smartphones for the first time.

You may ask us, why haven’t we stepped forward until now? The answer is that we simply didn’t have the solution to the problem, but now that we do, all we need is you.

The question you have to ask yourself is “How do I want to be remembered on the 5th of November?” The choice is yours and yours alone to make. We cannot make it for you. This may be the most important moment in your life. Believe you me, if you want to be on the right side of history, the answer is easy…

Stand with us in 2016, on the 5th of November, and together we shall give the world a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot.

On this day, the 5th of November of 2015, Following My Vote will be exhibiting at Web Summit 2015, a global tech conference attended by several startups that are leveraging technology to make this world a better place. At this conference, we will be formally announcing our plans to start a transparency movement that will stand the test of time.

If you don’t live in the United States, don’t worry, there are several ways that you can get involved and take part in this movement. For instance, we have just launched an official ambassadors program and are looking to recruit agents of change, those that want to live in an open and honest world. If you think you think you would be a good fit for this program, please visit our ambassadors program page for more info!

On Thursday, September 17th, we attended the Brennan Center for Justice event: America’s Voting Technology Crisis: Preparing for 2016 and Beyond. With the recent release of the report put out by the Brennan Center for Justice appropriately called America’s Voting Machines at Risk, it has become apparent that we need to talk about outdated voting machines and the future of voting in America.

The Event

The event consisted of lunch and a panel discussion about challenges with current voting machines. Several experts were in attendance to give their opinions on current risks, and possible solutions. The experts in attendance were:

Pam Fessler, the moderator (correspondent, NPR National Desk)

Edgardo Cortes (Commissioner of Elections, Virginia Department of Elections)

Neal Kelley (Registrar of Voters, Orange County, California)

Doug Lewis (Former Executive Director, Election Center)

Lawrence Norden (Deputy Director of the Democracy Program, Brennan Center for Justice)

Christopher Famighetti (Voting Rights Researcher, Brennan Center for Justice)

The recently released Brennan Center for Justice report exposed how outdated and incompetent voting machines are, all over the country. With this in mind, we believe that we are actively building the only long-term solution to address the pending crisis (an end-to-end verifiable online voting system) and attended the event with high hopes that the experts and attendees would be willing to have a productive discussion about online voting.

Discussing the WinVote Voting Machines

One of the main topics of discussion surrounded the fact that the state of Virginia has been using easily hackable WinVote electronic voting machines for several election cycles and only recently decertified them statewide. It was only once the security vulnerabilities were detected that the machines became decertified, alluding to the need to improve the voting system certification process. Someone from the crowd then asked why we don’t go back to simply using paper ballots and nothing else. Edgardo Cortes responded saying paper ballots are not scalable or cheap.

Follow My Vote Speaks Up

When it came time for questions, Nathan Hourt, Follow My Vote CTO, introduced himself and Follow My Vote. He informed the panelists that we are developing an end-to-end verifiable online voting system to address security vulnerabilities, as well as scale-ability and verifiability issues, with current voting machines. Being that we are developing the technology that has the potential to solve this crisis, Nathan then posed the question:

What is being done legislatively to allow for online voting?

Lawrence Norden was the first to respond. He said that the technology isn’t there yet, as far as he is aware. He continued, saying that until the tech is demonstrated, legislators won’t spend time on this issue.

Quite quickly, Doug Lewis grabbed the mic and followed up saying – and the second part of that answer is that it is a political issue. People who are currently in office right now were elected by the systems that are currently in place today. If we were to introduce new types of voting systems, it has the potential to jeopardize their ability to get re-elected.

Doug Lewis addresses the panelist and audience.

Did you know that there are 79 members of the United States Congress that have been in office for at least 20 years? And a total of 227 members of Congress have served for over 12 years? These are the people Doug was talking about. Both Republicans and Democrats care about getting re-elected and an honest online voting system could mess with their system. They can’t risk that.

The moderator then deflected to Neal Kelley and asked if he has gotten any demand for online voting in California, as he is the Registrar of Voters for Orange County, California (which is the 3rd largest county in the state and the 6th largest county in the U.S.). He said no, he had not received any requests and that he would pass on the question altogether. The only other elected official on the panel, Edgardo Cortes – Commissioner of Elections in Virginia, also chose to pass on the question.

The fact is that everyone in the voting machine industry wants to make more sales. And the best way to do that is pushing for new and updated voting machines via government officials and getting the public fired up about the issue at hand, which begs the question: what is the real reason for bringing this panel to the people? why now?

If people can vote from the comfort of their own home, on their own device, it virtually eliminates the current voting machine market. This industry, which is a multi-billion dollar industry, then becomes obsolete. Voting machines are meant to be replaced every 10 to 12 years, which was confirmed by the panel. People at home already update their devices regularly, even several times a year. People don’t wait 10 years to update their phone or computer software.

This is why we suggest that we allow citizens to use their own devices to vote. Doing this will drastically reduce and may even eliminate the need for electronic voting machines and paper ballots. Systems like Follow My Vote’s voting platform allows people to securely vote from their own device, which is likely to be less than a year or two old.

We have options. We can choose to use new cost effective technology and utilize online voting or we can buy more voting machines with money our government doesn’t have and expect another event just like this in 10 years. Let’s call it America’s Voting Technology Crisis: Preparing for 2026 and Beyond.

On another note, several members of Verified Voting participated in the creation of the Brennan Center’s Voting Machine’s at Risk Report. Pam Smith, Executive Director, Warren Stewart, Communications Director, and Susan Greenhalgh, Elections Specialist all contributed to the report. We thought this was interesting due to the fact Verified Voting is against online voting. They currently produce content that attempts to discredit the security and accuracy of online voting systems. In hindsight, we now know why we got the answers and responses we did.

After we asked our question, a lawyer stood up and asked how long it will be before we have verifiable hardware. Doug Lewis responded with a joke saying – by then you’ll have hair as white as mine! Everyone laughed. Then the lawyer said – “So, what you are saying is, we will never have verifiable elections in the U.S.?”

There was complete silence.

(Due to the nature of our system, users can verify their vote on different devices, thus making sure their vote is counted correctly and mitigating the need for verifiable hardware.)

If you believe online voting is the solution, join our movement today!

We are happy to report that the recording of this panel is now available and we have included it below. We ask our question at 1:01:55.

Follow My Vote Founder and CEO, Adam Kaleb Ernest, was the main speaker for the event. We used Follow My Vote as an example for starting a business, choosing a team, and finding your first customers. Students and members of the fraternity responded very well to presentation, asking questions about our technology and use cases, making for a extremely engaging event.

We are ecstatic to have Delta Sigma Pi at Virginia Tech be one of the first organizations to use our online end to end verifiable voting system. This is what their president had to say:

“As President of Delta Sigma Pi at Virginia Tech, I think I can speak for my fellow brothers when I say that Follow My Vote’s voting system is truly revolutionary and embodies Virginia Tech’s dedication to innovation. We are excited to test the system this semester by incorporating it into chapter meetings and hope it can soon be used for our elections process.”

– Anthony Puffenbarger, DSP President

We would like to thank DSP for inviting us to speak at their professional event. We would also like to encourage other organizations to contact us if they would like to hear about our revolutionary voting system or if they are interested in having a similar presentation.

Make sure you check out the Follow My Vote Hokies page if you have more questions about using our solution at your school or club. We will have more collegiate pages up soon.
