Follow My Vote has been featured on Nasdaq.com! The Nasdaq Stock Market is an American stock exchange, and is the second-largest exchange in the world by market capitalization, the first being the New York Stock Exchange. The Nasdaq website displays information about stock quotes, markets, business news, and investing.

Bitcoin Magazine, which has featured Follow My Vote before, is actually a contributor on Nasdaq.com and is responsible for the article entitled “Four Ways the Blockchain Will Make the World a Better Place”

Here is what was written about us on Nasdaq.com:

“The blockchain is also being leveraged by startups that aim to improve the democratic process of regional and national elections. Election fraud is a common occurrence in developing countries, but as we have witnessed in the latest U.S. presidential elections, even the most developed countries can struggle to deliver a fair and democratic election process.

Voter registration and vote counting are two areas in which the distributed ledger technology can provide solutions. The blockchain can be used to digitally record all eligible voters and can be used to publicly record every single vote during elections. A startup that is tackling this area is Virginia-based Follow My Vote. Follow My Vote has developed an open-source digital voting platform for governments built on top of the distributed ledger technology with the aim to make elections more transparent and democratic.”

The article goes on to mention the following companies who are also making the world a better place with blockchain technology:

AID:Tech is currently working on digital identities for refugees.

Bitland & ChromaWay are separate companies both working on recording land ownership.

And BitGive tracks financial donations with blockchain.

The article focuses on the application of our blockchain voting software for governments, and while it is true that our software could completely revolutionize government elections, we are not actively working with any governments to provide voting services at this time. Contact us if you represent a government, and wish to learn more about blockchain voting.

The truth is, our blockchain voting software has applications in numerous industries. To learn more, explore our use cases under the “Our Technology” tab.

In a recent article on Network World, Patrick Nelson wrote about Follow My Vote and how blockchain technology can revolutionize elections. Nelson discussed the recent and startling Brexit vote in addition to the way information is spread via social media. His point being that voting is changing. People are receiving information much faster and discussing issues online. But the most critical part of the process, casting your ballot, is still in the stone age.

With all the technology we have these days, it is truly amazing that there has been little to no innovation in the voting scene, UNTIL NOW! Here is a piece of what Nelson wrote about Follow My Vote and blockchain voting:

Blockchain could be adapted for elections to allow early voting from smartphones; allow second-by-second, public audit transparency of the ballot; allow you to change your vote right up to the poll close; and provide instant results right then and there.

Follow My Vote is a blockchain-based voting software solution that promises to revolutionize elections.

It works along the same principals as Bitcoin, where an encrypted ledger is distributed using computer power. That open-source, secure, peer-to-peer asset maintenance and payment system could be mimicked for numerous other purposes, many say.

That includes banking, distributed patient medical data, real estate transactions and elections. I wrote about a private blockchain operating system recently that promises to fix banking software problems.

Follow My Vote says its system, as with other blockchains, removes vulnerabilities. Fraud, external influence such as intimidation, miscounting and other shenanigans are eliminated.

Plus, voting would join the 21st century à la social media. The individual’s actual vote, not just his post-vote tweet or polling station’s exit poll, becomes an element in play on election day.

Transparency is a benefit, too, the organization says of yet-to-be adopted software.

After Nelson discussed Follow My Vote, he went on to explain how blockchain technology works. The explanation is short and to the point.

Roughly, blockchain works by securely managing a database via network nodes that all maintain a copy of the ledger. It’s supposedly impossible to scam because each node has a copy of the database, and the pending transactions, added in a block, are determined as valid through hash markings.

Head over to Network World to read the rest of the article.

If you are interested in learning more about how blockchains work, watch Follow My Vote CTO, Nathan Hourt, break it down in this video.

Once again, Follow My Vote has been featured in the news! We are excited to announce that the Huffington Post has featured Follow My Vote in an article about blockchain technology.

Huffington Post writer, Pradeep Aradhya wrote a fantastic and informative article in the business section on April 1st, 2016. The article covered the blockchain and some of the industry pioneers. Aradhya included an infographic about how a blockchain works, as well as some information on how current banks are trying to use these distributed databases.

The dedication and hard work of all the Follow My Vote team members is starting to pay off. We have an immense knowledge of the coding languages and security methods necessary to work with and build blockchains. We are now seeing the fruition of our effort, as well as recognition of well known publications.

Here is what Aradhya included about Follow My Vote in his Huffington Post article:

One of the most interesting applications of Blockchain is in the election business. FollowMyVote is running a parallel presidential election built on an online voting system that is expected to eliminate all illegitimacy in the vote counting process. Using a webcam and a government-issued ID, voters can remotely and securely log in and vote for their desired candidates. After they’ve selected their candidates, they can use their unique Voter ID to quite literally open the ballot box, locate their vote, and check that it is both present and correct. Additionally, voters can then watch the election progress in real time as votes are cast.

What’s more, Follow My Vote’s platform allows for an indecisive voter to return to the system and switch his or her votes at any time before the election deadline closes.

Aradhya also included our animated video, which helps explain how, and more importantly why we are building end to end verifiable (E2E V) blockchain voting software.

Check out our voting technology in the press! We were recently featured in an article on Independent Voter Network (IVN), a website dedicated to unfiltered, independent political news. “Follow My Vote is trying to offer an alternative solution to voting machines, and redefine how we look at elections,” according to the author, Carson Bolter. He highlights many of the central flaws surrounding the current voting technology used today. Some of these security flaws include unsecured wireless networks and machines experiencing multiple crashes on election day.

“To us, part of fixing the process means the ability to independently audit an election. Without transparency, there is absolutely no definitive way that people can verify that their votes have been accurately recorded and stored, and that the results of the election have not been tampered with.” – Adam Ernest, CEO

Those who count the votes in an election are the ones who hold the power. At Follow My Vote, we are offering a decentralized election solution with transparent and mathematically proven results. Anyone who is curious to see the numbers, can and should be able to verify them. Lest we end up with another legal battle, like that in Kansas, just to see voting machine tapes.

How are we offering this secure e-voting technology? Well, look no further than blockchain technology and elliptic curve cryptography.

“We’re using this technology to allow people to audit not only their own vote, but an entire election. It’s very powerful for voters to be able to follow their vote and engage in the political process from anywhere using any device. Many people are dissatisfied with the political environment, and our software will help to increase voter turnout, especially among the younger generations.” – Adam Ernest, CEO

For anyone who reads our blog and knows what we are attempting to do, you know that we face an uphill battle. We love to see our voting technology in the press, as it shines more light on our message. To those who are on board with our voting revolution, we ask for your continued support. There are still many folks that say online voting will never be secure. To the naysayers, we ask – why not give it a try first? In 2016, Follow My Vote will be hosting a parallel presidential election. Together, let’s show the world that decentralized, verifiable e-voting is finally here to stay.

Follow My Vote can be extremely useful to established and future governments. We can provide end to end verifiable voting systems that can keep elections truly honest and accurate. Many of the blockchain startups featured are dependent on new laws or shifts in the way people are governed and able to issue securities. Governments that allow online voting and organizations such as businesses and political parties can use our system with ease for truly honest online elections.

We are proud to say Follow My Vote has been featured on the well known publication, Bitcoin Magazine! This is our latest press recognition and we are quite thrilled. Bitcoin Magazine is one of the most engaging and accurate sources of information regarding Bitcoin, blockchain technology, and the digital currency space. Currently they receive over 85,000 unique monthly visitors. This means a lot more people just got exposed to Follow My Vote and our revolutionary voting platform!

The author, Mathew Daniel did an excellent job covering how blockchain technology is going to completely revolutionize the voting space and the companies attempting to lead this disruption. Our Founder and CEO, Adam Ernest was prominently featured in the article as well. He explained the mission Follow My Vote is on, some of the misconceptions about online voting, and our educational campaigns. Here is a quick highlight from the article.

There are, however, increasing examples of political organizations and technology startups experimenting with secure digital voting systems based on the use of Bitcoin’s blockchain technology. Last year Denmark’s Liberal Alliance became the first political party to vote using a blockchain-based system for its internal elections. Similar systems have since been adopted in Norway and Spain and the movement is gathering momentum in the United States.

“There is a common misconception that voting cannot be done online in a secure way. However, the introduction of blockchain technology is changing the conversation,” Adam Ernest, CEO of Virginia-based FollowMyVote – an organization committed to developing an online open source, transparent voting platform – explains.

Adam also discussed Follow My Vote’s plan to get the people to lobby on our behalf. Many government officials are satisfied with the current voting systems and they have yet to hear about blockchain technology and its applications for voting.

“Pushing for provably honest elections in the U.S. and abroad, we have a tremendous amount of money and influence stacked against us,” he said.

As a result, FollowMyVote is changing its approach. Instead of trying to lobby election officials or legislators whom they feel have no incentive to improve the voting process in the U.S., it is preparing to launch an educational marketing campaign targeted directly at the voter in an attempt to get them to lobby the government.

The article also covered our technology partner, BitShares and their Smartchain technology.

Ernest notes that this concept is gaining much traction in countries such as Norway, Iceland and Germany. FollowMyVote, in partnership with BitShares and Cryptonomex, Inc., is working on a voting platform that is integrated directly with the BitShares 2.0 Smartchain that supports this use case.

Please share our blog post and the Bitcoin Magazine article! More people need to know about blockchain technology and the fact that online voting can be secure.

On Monday, February 9, 2015 Follow My Vote and CEO Adam Ernest appeared on the first page of the Roanoke Times! Reporter Yann Ranaivo did an excellent job reporting on what we do and why we do it. He explained how we are pushing for verifiable online voting and the fact that we believe any and all elections should be provably honest. Ranaivo covered our technology, how we can increase voter turnout, and even interviewed Virginia Tech professors to gauge their opinion.

Reporter Yann Ranaivo explained our technology well.

Supported by the same kind of technology that runs the digital currency Bitcoin, FMV provides an online voting platform that, among other things, allows users to verify the legitimacy of other voters who are identified by no more than individual identification keys, or codes that enclose each voter’s information and ensure they are, in fact, registered. A voter’s name is not disclosed.

The details of the cast ballots are put on a public ledger that allows FMV users to view and even vet an election’s results. In other words, when a person votes, his or her key gets attached to the name of whichever candidate they choose and that pairing is immediately published for others to see.
