 Registering to Vote in West Virginia

Registering to vote is fairly simple in West Virginia. You can register by mail or in person. West Virginia does not offer online voter registration but they are working on it!

Voters do not have to register with a political party in West Virginia. Simply check “other”.


  • Be a resident of West Virginia
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Can’t be deemed mentally incompetent by a judge or court of law
  • Must not be under conviction, probation or parole for election bribery, treason, or any felony.
  • Must beat least 17 years of age and will be 18 on or before the next general election.

Where and How to Register

To register by mail: Download the West Virginia Voter Registration Application and mail it to your County Clerk or Secretary of State’s Office.

To register in person: You may register to vote in person at any of the following locations.
