Registering to Vote in Iowa
You cannot register online to vote in the state of Iowa. You can, however, check your voting status, including where you’re supposed to vote and if your registration form has been approved.
Iowa is one of only three states in all of the US that keeps its polls open until 9 pm. If you’re not going to register to vote on the day of election, you will need to register through the mail by at least 10 days in advance according to the election you want to vote in. After you have registered, you will not need to register again unless you change your voting status, such as a change of address or moving out of state.

Where and How to Register

Do keep in mind that you cannot use both addresses. Make sure that you have your registration form submitted at least 10 days before general elections. For all other elections, the form must be submitted at least 11 days before.
Although you must pre-register to vote well in advance before an election, you can register to vote on an election day in Iowa. You will need to provide proof of who you are and where you live. You cannot register to vote online at this time.
