Registering to Vote in New Mexico
The deadline for registering to vote is at least 28 days before an election. You can check your voter registration status on New Mexico’s VoterView.
To be eligible to vote in New Mexico, you must:
- Be a US citizen
- Be a resident of New Mexico
- Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
- Must not have been convicted of a felony, unless you’ve had your civil rights restored
- Can’t be deemed mentally incompetent by a judge or court of law
Where and How to Register
To register to vote in New Mexico, you must visit your local county clerk’s office and fill out a voter registration form. You may also print out a national Voter Registration Application and mail it to your local county clerk or to the office of the New Mexico Secretary of State.
Alternatively, you can register to vote when you apply for or renew your license at a New Mexico MVD office.
