Registering to Vote in Vermont
Registering to vote in Vermont is fairly simple. You must submit a voter registration form to your town or city clerk.
You do not have to register with a party to vote in Vermont. All registered voters can participate in primary elections, however you can only vote on one of the major party ballots.
Qualifications
- Be a resident of Vermont
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Must take the Voter’s Oath (formerly called the “Freeman’s Oath”)
- Be at least 18 years old
Where and How to Register
You can download a voter registration form here or by visiting the Vermont registration page. Take this registration form to your town or city clerk to finalize your voter registration.
Additionally, you can register to vote whenever you are at the Department of Motor Vehicles to update your address ,to you register your car, get a driver’s license, or renew your registration or license.
Vermont require a driver’s license number or the last four digits of your Social Security Number to register to vote.
