As of July 28, 2015 the city of Montgomery, AL is developing and online voting system. The city is running a pilot with an electronic balloting system for overseas military and civilian voters in the municipal election in late August 2015.

Registering to Vote in Alabama

Unfortunately, Alabama does not currently offer online voter registration. However, you can view your voter registration status and locate your polling place here.  Alabama voter registration closes 14 days before each election.

Qualifications

  • Be a US citizen
  • Be an Alabama resident
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Must not be disqualified due to committing a felony
  • Must not be declared “mentally incompetent” by a court

Where and How to Register

In Alabama, you can register to vote either by mail or in person.

To register to vote in Alabama in person, you will need to submit a State of Alabama Mail-In Voter Registration Form. You can also have the form mailed to you by completing an online request form, or by calling (800) 274-8683. You can then submit your form at any of the following locations:

Once your application is successfully processed, you will receive a voter identification card by mail.
