Registering to Vote in Delaware
To vote in Delaware, you must register by the 4th Saturday prior to any Presidential, Primary, or General Election.
Qualifications
Delawareans can call (302) 739-4277 to check if they are eligible to vote.
- Be a US citizen
- Be a Delaware citizen
- Be at least 18 years old
- Cannot have been deemed mentally incompetent
- Felons must have paid all fines and restitution costs or have committed a disqualifying felony as defined in the Delaware constitution
Where and How to Register
You can register to vote online, by mail, in person, or over the phone.
To complete the registration online, go to Delaware’s online portal and follow the instructions.
To complete the application by mail, fill out the form online, print it, sign it, and mail it to the address provided on the form. You must provide either your Delaware driver’s license, your ID number, or your Social Security number.
If you are registering and have never registered before, you must provide copies of proof of photo identification or proof of residency that shows your name and address, such as:
- A photo ID
- A current utility bill, bank statement, or government paystub
Your polling place card should be mailed to you within four weeks. If your application is rejected you will also be notified by mail.
If you would like to register in person, you can do so with a proof of identification or residency at one of the following locations:
- Your local Department of Elections
- Your local Delaware DMV
- Department of Health and Social Services
- Department of Labor
As a third option, you may call the Department of Elections to request a voter registration application be mailed to you.
