Registering to Vote in Nevada
Your voter form must be received at least 30 days in advance to the election you want to vote in. If you miss a cut-off date, your form will be held until the next election is to take place.
Qualifications
- Be a Nevada resident for 30 days or longer
- Be a resident in the precinct you wish to vote in for longer than 10 days
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Cannot claim permanent residence at an address different than the one you use to register
- Be at least 18 years old
Where and How to Register
Residents living in Nevada who are 18-years-old or older can register to vote in a variety of different ways. In order to register, a valid DMV ID is required. If preferred, a person can fill out a Fillable Voter Registration Form and mail it to the county clerk. The form can be printed out off the Internet or picked up at one of the many agencies that keep the forms on hand, including postal offices and libraries. After the form has been filled out, it can be hand delivered to the county clerk or mailed in.
All Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles offices also have these forms and allow for residents to register to vote. Nevada also has many schools and universities where students and other adults can register to vote. If you need to make a change to your registration information, you can do so online. In fact, you will need to fill out another form for registration.
Residents in Nevada now of the option to file both their original voter registration forms online as well as any further forms that are needed to update changes in address, county, etc. And not only does Nevada simplify the voter registration process by enabling online filing, it also makes it easy to vote early. By being able to vote early, more voters are able to vote, which enhances efficient ballot counts. Early voting also reduces the administrative cost accompanied with voting.
